This back care training comprises 4 modules.  Experiential learning with back therapy sequences and common back conditions together with remedial yoga related to these, joint movement, modifications, prohibitions, precautions, pranayama and meditation together with mindful movement.

Description:
Back Care: You’re as Young as Your Spine is Flexible is a comprehensive, accredited, yoga for back health and back care,  CPD training module.
The course runs over 4 days with additional, practical interim practice assignments.
The course is practically based with sequences and practical asana/pranayama back therapy throughout.
This is a practical, experiential programme with sequence practices throughout – an immersion in back therapy.

Syllabus Description:
Module  1:
Back overview and Eastern perspective
Relevance of mindful movement to pain management
Emergency poses for pain relief and red flags
Optimal back movement
Importance of core in relation to our backs
Practical relief, anywhere, anytime

Module 2:
Common back conditions and remedial yoga related to these – part 1
(common backache; acute backache; our joints)

Module 3:
Common back conditions and remedial yoga related to these – part 2
(modifications for yoga poses and tools for modifications)

Module 4:
Yoga therapy back sequences

Materials:
Students should bring a pen and notebook
Course notes will be provided
Mats/blocks are provided; students welcome to bring their own

Evaluation:
Students will be required to complete event calendars at home, between modules and to practise different back therapy sequences as part of their non-contact hours.
There will be observational class assessments when students will be given the opportunity to lead yoga therapy practices.

Attendance:
Students should attend 90% of the course.  Should the student miss a day/module, they will need to agree with the teacher when to catch up.  The trainer reserves the right to charge additional fees for any catch-up time.
Students may be able to attend a missed day on another course, subject to availability.

Accreditation:
This training back care event is accredited by Yoga Alliance Professionals and British Wheel of Yoga.  We reserve the right to amend any of the above conditions at any time throughout the course.

Teaching:
This is a practically orientated programme with immersion in poses, sequences, pranayama and relaxation to benefit the back and whole body/mind.
Exploration of yoga therapy for the back through teaching, questions and answers, experiential learning.
Opportunity to lead yoga therapy poses, sequences for the students.

Aims:

  • Gain a basic understanding about common back pain and back care.
  • Learn how to bring backs to balance in the yoga class and beyond, including everyday life and other sporting activities, safeguarding back health through a modern approach to ancient, healing wisdom.
  • Experience practical back pain relieving poses and sequences for back healthcare together with yoga modifications, breathwork and relaxation.
  • Be confident to incorporate what you learn into your yoga, your yoga teaching, everyday life and other sports to facilitate gradual improvement in your own and students’ back health.

Booking:
Full payment at the time of booking is required to secure your place on the course.
Alternatively, you may pay 50% non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to hold your place. In this case, full payment is required 30 days before the start of the course.
In the event that full payment is not received by the due date, your place may not be guaranteed.
Places are limited to a maximum of 10 per course.

Refund Policy Guidelines:
Students may attend on another day/course, subject to space and availability.
If the course were to be cancelled, a full refund including deposit would be given.
Otherwise a refund, less deposit, will be given up to 30 days before the start date.

Our course has met the stringent requirements set by Yoga Alliance Professionals and British Wheel of Yoga. Our graduates are trained to the highest standard.
